We are a forward thinking, innovative and cutting edge institution with our roots firmly imbedded in the traditions of the past. The Light of Islam Academy is the educational arm of Jamia Chashtiah Masjid which is run under the auspices of the Chashtiah Educational Trust a registered charity with the Charity Commission of the UK.
Programmes like the Nasheed Factor and The Atfaal Creche have ensured that we are under constant pressure to expand. Hence we are in a constant state of progression. Static stillness is contrary to our philosophy and contrary to positive change both in or students and subsequently our students. We have an integrated approach to education and rely on the triangular partnership between teacher, pupil and parent. |

A Levels – R.E, English Language

BA – Arabic and Islamic Studies.
Why teaching at LIA: “Initially, I came to teach tajweed and Islamic studies. Then after a while, I realised I was not just here to teach, but be an example and change some peoples lives. For example many young girls have decided to wear hijab because of some discussions we have had.
Having being responsible for the ‘elder girls’ for a number of years Sister Bushra will be taking on the challenge of the younger girls – Quran with Tajweed at Intermediate 1 and Key Stage 2 Islamic Studies.
“I will be sad to leave them but I am sure they will develop even further with their new teacher(s)!”

A Levels – R.E, Law, Sociology
BSc – Business Management.
Why teaching at LIA: “After spending some time in Syria learning basic Tajweed I came back to realise how important is was for me to pass on what I had learnt. The level of Quran reading that some of the pupils had at the Academy was good but I felt that they could improve. It was a win-win situation – the children benefited from my fantastic experience abroad but I benefited as I had the opportunity to improve my own recitation through constant practice.”
